The Houston Chronicle reports that the 56th annual
Houston International Boat, Sport and Travel Show
- due to open Friday - will be closed January 7 (the day after the show's opening) in order to
accommodate an unscheduled playoff game between the Houston Texans and
the Cincinnati Bengals.
Set to run from January 6 to 15 at Reliant Park, the Houston Boat Show is one of the largest boat shows in south Texas.
Simultaneously
hosting two major events at the Reliant complex is logistically
impossible, says boat show organizer Ken Lovell. "The parking situation
would be just a total nightmare," he says. While unfortunate that the
boat show will lose one of its high-traffic days, Lovell admits
"everybody's pretty excited about the Texans being in the playoffs; it's
a great thing for Houston."
Saturday's playoff game also resulted in a monster truck event being rescheduled.
