The American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) is inviting those interested to attend a four-day course that can see them obtain its Marine Electrical Certification. The course takes place at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Ashland, Wisconsin from April 10 to 13.
The course is designed for marine professionals with at least three to five years’ experience working with marine systems design, installation or repair. It’s said to provide students with a comprehensive and focused look at key ABYC Standards.
Topics covered include:
- Electrical fundamentals
- Multi-meter usage
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Cable installation and termination
- Battery installation, maintenance, testing, charging systems
- Inverter installation
- AC shore power systems
- AC generators
- AC panel boards
- DC panel boards
- AC components
- DC components
- Safety equipment
The course begins at 8:30 AM (CST) each day.

Registration, including a study guide, daily lunch and certification testing is US $985 for ABYC members and US $1,270 for non-members.
