A total of 45 nominees made the short list for final evaluation, out of a total of 116 entries submitted by equipment manufacturers in 23 different countries. Launched in 1991, the DAME award recognizes innovative new products in seven categories: Marine electronics and related software; Interior equipment, furnishings, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins; Marina equipment, boatyard equipment and boat construction tools and materials; Deck equipment, sails and rigging; Clothing and crew accessories; Lifesaving and safety equipment; and Machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and fittings.
The DAME Award Jury will now review these 45 finalists, and choose up to seven Category Winners plus one Overall Winner, which will be announced during the Breakfast Briefing on the opening day of METS.
The 45 finalists in the world's most prestigious award for new marine products come from manufacturers in 16 different countries. During the show, winning products will be on display in the new Innovation LAB, supported by iPad presentations of the products offering visitors more background information.
Boating Business will have daily updates from the 2014 METS, which will be held from November 18 to 20 inclusive at the massive Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
