The Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association (NSBA) has announced it will offer a four-day Electrical Certification Course in Halifax from November 29th to December 2nd, 2011.
Facilitated by American Boat and Yacht Ccouncil (ABYC), the course will be delivered at the Atlantic Beer Institute in the Brewery Market Building, 1496 Lower Water Street, Halifax. This course is designed for the marine technician with at least three to five years' experience working with marine electricity. The student also needs some familiarity with ABYC electrical standards.
Course topics include: electrical theory, lead-acid batteries, using a multi-meter, battery testing, generator sets, inverters, grounding and bonding systems, troubleshooting and more.
Each student will be shipped an ABYC study guide which should be studied prior to class, and contains all the pertinent ABYC standards for the course. The fee to register is $450 plus HST for NSBA members and AMTA members, or $500 plus HST for non-members.
