Alumacraft Boats Co., St. Peter, MN, has added seven new Canadian dealers to its dealer base. The additions have meant new representation for the brand on Cape Breton Island, NS and renewed representation near St. John's, NL.
The new dealers include Babin's Service Centre in Louisville, NS; Atlantic Trailer in Mount Pearl, NL; L'Expert Marine in Alma, QC; Filteau Marine in Blainville, QC; Rideau Ferry Marine in Rideau Ferry, ON; Tweed Recreational Products in Tweed, ON; and Black Bear Power Products in West Hawk Lake, MB.
“We had an opportunity to pick up the line and we jumped all over it,” says Cam McLachlan, Owner of Black Bear Power Products. “I don't sell junk. I only sell things I like. I can't look someone straight in the eye and sell them something I don't believe in. So it's important we carry the right lines and Alumacraft is the right line for us.”
Dan Cummings, an Independent Sales Representative for Alumacraft, believes the additions are a sign that dealers are beginning to look for new product coming out of the recession. “A couple of our new dealers had ordered boats from their previous supplier and never got them because of production cutbacks and the economy.”
Currently, Alumacraft has approximately 25 dealers in Canada, but Cummings believes there are even more opportunities for Alumacraft to grow its dealer base in the near future. One way he has been doing that is by meeting new dealers at boat shows. “I met some of these new dealers at the Toronto International Boat Show,” says Cummings. “I'm also looking west in Alberta and BC.”
He also believes new product introductions have helped. “This year we just introduced a 17 ½-foot and 18 ½-foot Competitor in three different configurations. So there are six different models right there and every year we're continuing to introduce new models for anglers and fish n' ski enthusiasts. That has certainly been an attraction for new dealers.”
