Aluminum Chambered Boats (ACB) has shut down its boat manufacturing operations.
The Bellingham, WA-based company, launched in 1998, was a recent exhibitor at the Vancouver International Boat Show, where it demonstrated its aluminum fishing boats in the water at False Creek. It produced a range of welded aluminum boats for recreational boating and both commercial and military applications. A total of 35 staff at the company's production facility will lose their jobs.
According to a report pubished in the Bellingham Herald, the company's Interim President, Tom Latham, cites the recession, mounting debt and an inability to make a profit as key reasons for the closure.
The company had been unsuccessful in recent attempts to attract an investor, but will continue to attempt to solicit new investment.
