The British Columbia Yacht Brokers Association (BCYBA) recently joined the Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) program as a sponsoring partner.
“We are very pleased to offer this program to our members,” said Jane McIvor, manager of the BCYBA. “While the BCYBA had developed our own program over 10 years ago, the CPYB course has built on the basics of our course and provides a much more comprehensive leaning tool, including the opportunity for ongoing professional development and re-certification.”
The program, which is part of a North American-wide trend among professional associations, not only develops and encourages ongoing educational development, but greatly enhances the credibility of industry professionals serving the public.
The Certified Broker designation also recognizes professional experience, training and mastery of core areas of expertise related to professional yacht broker skills and knowledge. In addition to practical experience, Certified Brokers must comply with the CPYB code of ethics and pass a rigorous three-hour written examination.
The CPYB program is developed and managed by the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA), Annapolis, MD, which is in partnership with the Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA), Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association (NYBA), Seattle, WA, California Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA) Oakland, CA, and the Ontario Yacht Brokers Association (OYBA), Penetanguishene, ON.
