Beneteau, Croix-de-Vie, France, is planning to launch its new Barracuda powerboat line in North America in August. The company's Barracuda 9, a 28-foot, 10-inch outboard model will be the first of the group, targeting fishermen, divers and recreational boaters.
"The inspiration for the Barracuda was to build a fishing/cruising crossover which could easily be customized based on its intended use while providing more protection than ever; we believe that is the real appeal of the range,' says Laurent Fabre, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Beneteau Powerboats Division. "Whether you're a recreational fisherman or want a boat you can enjoy on weekends with your family, the Barracuda is your boat.'
The Barracuda 9 can be equipped with twin outboard engines up to 225hp or a single outboard up to 400hp. The boat is also available with or without a flybridge.
In the near future, the company plans to bring its Barracuda 7, an enclosed centre console model, to North America as well. The Barracuda 7 was introduced in Europe this past fall.
According to Beneteau's website, the company currently has five dealers of its motorboats across Canada.
