Bigger Crowds and Expected Sales at London Boat Show

Dealers report excellent crowds and satisfying sales at this year's London Boat, Fishing and Leisure Show held at the Western Fair Grounds in London, ON from March 25 to 27.

According to Daryl Dann, Show Director, this year's show attracted approximately 11,000 visitors and featured more than 100 exhibitors. “The show went really well,” says Dann. “We had some new and exciting exhibitors and our space was sold out. Attendance was up 10 percent over last year's show despite questionable weather. Saturday's attendance was higher than what I've seen it in seven years.”

Exhibiting dealers reported making a decent number of boat sales this year.

“The attendance on Saturday and Sunday were phenomenal,” says Sue Vadovic, Co-owner of Action Marine Service in Stoney Point, ON. “It wasn't our best selling show but we did sell some units. It's still too soon to really say. I've already received two follow up calls from potential customers.”

This year Action Marine Service brought models from the Lowe, Suncruiser, Tahoe and Seaswirl boat brands. “This year our sporting fibreglass line between 18 to 20 feet received a lot of attention,” notes Vadovic. “It seems like every other year interest rotates.”

Hully Gully in London, ON brought 25 vessels to the show this year including Princecraft and Tracker aluminum fishing boats as well as fibreglass models from Bayliner, Yamaha and Nitro. “The crowds were excellent,” says Paul Van Bilsen, Hully Gully's Marine Sales Team Leader. “We did make sales at the show. Sales were about the same as last year, which was as expected. We noticed a lot of interest in aluminum fishing boats.”

Dann says that show goers were excited to discover that this year's show features included Canadian historical racing boat legends Miss Supertest III and Guy Lombardo's boat, Tempo VII. “The draw was unbelievable,” says Dann. “People wanted their pictures taken in front of these two boats. It was action central.”

Next year's London Boat, Fishing and Leisure Show is scheduled to run from February 24 to 26, 2012.
