The Ontario Marine Operators Association's (OMOA) annual 2008 Boating Ontario Conference and Trade Show is scheduled for November 30 to December 2 at the London Convention Centre in London, ON.
One of the key elements of this year's theme is to help marine industry members discover new ways to increase profits, deal with current issues of market trends (north and south of the border) and the skills shortage issue. Balancing expenditures, inventory, interest expenses and advertising are all topics of discussion at the conference.
“It is our challenge to show Ontario's marine industry that it does not have to mirror the United States,” said Al Donaldson, executive director of the OMOA. “There is light at the end of the tunnel and we would like to help them find it.”
Among the many highlights, Sunday evening will feature a Cuban Party with music and dancers, while Monday will include insightful presentations from marine industry members, followed by horse racing at the Western Fair Event Centre. On Tuesday there's the four-hour focused trade show consisting of approximately 80 exhibitor booths, as well as more presentations followed by The President's Reception, Dinner and Awards.
As a special incentive to attend this year's conference, the OMOA will be holding the Trip to Paradise draw, awarding a vacation to the destination of the winner's choice.
The OMOA will also encourage delegates to register themselves and/or their staff for training to obtain their Boating Ontario Certified Professional certificate through the Georgian College Marine Sales Professional Course and Certified Professional Yacht Brokers certificate. Pre-registered attendees will receive a $50 discount on the conference's price of admission.
In addition to its many onsite amenities, the London Convention Centre features presentation halls with theatre-style seating as well as efficient facilities for the trade show. The centre is conveniently connected to the London Hilton hotel by a skywalk and a special room rate will be offered to show attendees and exhibitors.
