Boating Ontario Seeking Bids for Marine Workforce Recruitment Program by November 3

Regional Tourism Organization 7 (RT07) – encompassing Bruce, Grey and Simcoe, Ontario – is seeking quotations from interested individuals/organizations for a Marine Workforce Recruitment Program for Boating Ontario Association. The ongoing shortage of employable, qualified marine mechanics in the area is one of the primary motivating factors for the RFQ.

Proposals for this project are expected to include a plan to identify current barriers and develop strategies to overcome them; develop links with regional high schools; host co-op and work experience programs; and raise the appeal of marine jobs in an effort to create a sustainable, well-trained workforce to service the industry.

This project will also serve to raise awareness of both employers and future employees of career opportunities within the marine industry, resulting in greater numbers enrolled in marine and small engines techniques program at Georgian College.

Approximately 70 marinas are found within RT07 area, accounting for nearly 10,000 boat slips. Boating Ontario estimates these businesses could potentially employ an average of 10 employees, representing some 700 jobs in the region. However, many of these marinas struggle to adequately fill these positions.

The association's guidelines for submitting a quote can be found here.

Quotations are due November 3 at noon and should be sent to info@rto7.ca.
