Boatmax Ltd. will be consolidating its boat sales and service business into its Doral Marine Resort location in Midland, ON sometime in the spring of 2011. The company's second location, a dry land dealership in Innisfil, ON, will remain open until that time.
“There are several reasons why we're moving,” explains Erwin Zecha, Owner of Boatmax Ltd. “We took on the Meridian line about a year ago, which is much larger than what we've handled in the past. So to have the Meridians at the Innisfil location doesn't make much sense since there's no water access for sea trials. The other reason is that I'm no longer involved in Doral. I used to own it but it has been sold. In the past it was important for us to have a complete compliment of all the Doral models. We'll still have them but it's not quite as important as it was for us as before. Another reason is that by combining our resources we can provide better service. Instead of having two service departments in two locations, we'll have one with twice as many people, which will allow us to specialize much better. Last but not least, it saves us a bunch of money.”
Zecha says there's no specific timeline for the move at present because his dealership is focused on preparing for the Toronto International Boat Show in January. However, he expects everything to be transferred over to the Midland location before the boating season begins next year – perhaps in April or May.
Although Zecha says a few walls may need to be moved to accommodate additional sales offices at the Midland showroom, the transition is anticipated to be seamless. “To move from one to the other is not a big deal because we won't be shutting down,” says Zecha. “There will be no interruption – it's only really minor stuff.”
Zecha also revealed that he isn't planning on selling the Innisfil location, but rather plans to put it up for lease.
Boatmax is presently a dealer of Rinker, Doral, Ebbtide, Bennington, Seaswirl and Meridian boats.
