A June 11 lighting strike sparked a fire that caused extensive damage to the offices of Tallahassee Florida-based BoatTrack. However, the company utilizes cloud-based technology and was able to immediately resume normal business operations without interruption to its customers.
“We're servicing our customers just as we did before the fire, only remotely,” says President Rob Murphy. “Now, it's just a matter of getting all our employees re-situated in a temporary office space to have a more cohesive work environment.”
BoatTrack's software suite was developed specifically for boatbuilders, dealers and service centres. Cloud-based, it doesn't rely on in-house servers or PCs. The company's current client list includes the likes of Chris Craft, Ebbtide and Everglades boats.
The company moved its offices to the Tallahassee location in March of this year. Boattrack estimates it could take up to a year to return to its damaged office building.
