BRP, Valcourt, QC, recently celebrated the renovation of its Sturtevant, WI Evinrude Outboard Engine Division with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this month.
The company's $15 million investment into the facility enables it to now house all of BRP's outboard engine R&D efforts, manufacturing operations, procurement, North American sales, marketing and after-sales activities.
"The Evinrude brand has had a presence in Wisconsin for more than 100 years,' said Wisconsin Governor Walker at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "I'm proud to be here to congratulate a company that has shown its dedication to the great people of this state. Hundreds of Wisconsin families are supported by the manufacturing and selling of Evinrude outboard engines.'
The facility employs 465 people, including 136 new employees who recently relocated to the renovated plant after BRP mothballed operations at its former Waukegan, IL facility. “The BRP employees here in Wisconsin and across the world have a great deal to be proud of,' said Alain Villemure, Vice President and General Manager, BRP Outboard Engine division. "The inauguration of BRP's Evinrude campus represents a commitment to engineering and manufacturing excellence, and the beginning of a new chapter in an ongoing legacy that is simply unmatched in the marine outboard industry.”
BRP employs more than 6,000 people worldwide and its products are distributed in over 100 countries.
