BRP Delays Distribution Facility Closure

BRP has decided to delay the closing of its Beloit, Wisconsin distribution facility for at least two years. Back in September of 2013, the company announced its global plans to close several distribution facilities, including the one in Beloit by the fall of 2015.

"It handles parts, accessories and clothing,' says Johanne Denault, Manager of Corporate Communications. "It used to be an Evinrude facility. When we acquired Evinrude, it was part of the package of sites that we ended up with. We were supposed to outsource the [distribution] service to a third party. We've done it in Sherbrooke, Quebec this year, but we have many other projects underway and we realigned our priorities. So, nothing will change in Beloit for the next two or three years.'

The Beloit facility, which currently employs approximately 60 people, was acquired by BRP when it purchased Johnson and Evinrude brands from Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) in 2001.
