Brunswick Boat Group Plant Reaches 1 Million Hours Without Lost-Time Incident

Employees at Brunswick Boat Group's New York Mills, Minnesota facility are celebrating one million work hours without a lost-time incident.

“Safety is a top priority at our New York Mills facility, and something we take very seriously at Brunswick,” said Dirk Hyde, President, Lund Boats and New York Mills Operations.  “Reaching this mark is a tremendous testament to our employees' professionalism as they continue to maintain and extend their abilities to work smartly and safely, all while meeting solid demand and producing the highest quality boats.”

The facility, which manufactures Brunswick's Lund and Crestliner boat brands, achieves this milestone amidst what the company describes as increasing production volumes and a steady influx of new employees over the past 12 months. Brunswick Boat Group has 550 employees at the New York Mills facility, up from 465 employees when the drive toward 1 million work hours without a lost-time incident began in late 2011.

“Working safely is more than just some posters on a wall or an agenda item at an employee meeting.  It is a way of life that we endeavor to practice both on and off the job,” explained Price Taylor, Vice President of operations at New York Mills.  “We focused on not just looking out for ourselves as individuals, but also looking out for each other. All of the credit goes to our employees, our safety committee and those who lead our safety efforts.”
