Buckeye Marine Announces Beneficiary of Its Fall Charity Gala

Buckeye Marine, Bobcaygeon, Ontario, has selected Women's Resources of Kawartha Lakes as the recipient of funds raised at its Preview and Charity Gala being held at the dealership on October 5.

"We at Buckeye Marine are dedicated to our community and to supporting local groups such as Women's Resources who work tirelessly to enhance the quality of life of residents and summer visitors,' says Carly Poole, Buckeye Marine's Marketing Manager. "The funds raised from our charity event will go toward refurbishing the bedrooms in the shelter – a much needed facelift after 20 years of service.'

Each year Women's Resources must raise $300,000 to support its services, which include an 18-bed shelter for women fleeing violence, a 24-hour crisis support line, risk assessment and safety planning, individual and group counselling services, Amy's Second Stage housing, groups for children who have experienced violence, a resource library and Vicky's Values Gently Used Clothing Boutique.

Since the shelter opened in 1992, Women's Resources has provided safety and support to over 3,900 women and children in the shelter, 8,335 women and 977 children in the counselling programs and responded to over 22,600 crisis phone calls.

Buckeye Marine is seeking donated auctions item to help raise funds at the event. "We appreciate your consideration and will ensure that your generosity is acknowledged throughout the evening,' adds Poole.
