Buckeye Marine, Bobcaygeon, ON, hosted its annual Product Preview & Charity Event at its dry land facility earlier this month. The dealership reports raising $13,000 to help the Kawartha North Family Health Team’s (KNFHT) efforts to fund a walk-in clinic.
This year, attendees were encouraged to dress in 70’s attire. Visitors had the chance to participate financially by purchasing tickets, playing a series of games and bid on silent and live auction items.
“We are glad to be able to enjoy this event with our customers, local vendors, marine industry professionals and Buckeye Marine employees,” says Buckeye Marine’s Marketing Coordinator, Carly Poole. “We thank everyone who attended and contributed items and sponsorship because without everyone who participated the event would not have been such a huge success.”
Buckeye Marine hosts the event annually on the Friday night of the Thanksgiving weekend to raise money and awareness for a specific charity while allowing clients the chance to see what’s new for the upcoming boating season. Buckeye matches the funds raised during the event and uses this money to create a sponsorship fund aimed to support other local charities, groups and those in need in its community later in the coming year.
“The Kawartha North Family Health Team is not only a resource for the local communities of Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls but a walk-in clinic in these locations will act also as the closest medical facility for many of our seasonal residence and Buckeye clients,” explains Poole. “The KNFHT is working very diligently in the community to improve health care with outside the box thinking. The publicly funded walk-in clinics are a great example of this. We applaud KNFHT for its dedication and understand that of this would not be possible without a great amount of volunteer effort and the support of the community. We urge local businesses and residents to get involved in this effort.”
