Approximately 60 C.C. Marine Distributors' staff, along with their friends and family gathered at the company's 30,000 square-foot Newmarket, ON office to celebrate a very special milestone for the company and its owner. Charlie Bulmer, owner of C.C. Marine Distributors Inc. turned 80 today and as it so happens, the company marked its 80th year in business.
Long time friend of the Bulmer family, Laura Clark, presented Bulmer a pair of restored engines to temporarily display at the company's office place. They included a 1956 Evinrude 7.5hp outboard and 1964 Johnson 18hp outboard.
In traditional C.C. Marine celebratory fashion, Bulmer was also dressed up in costume by staff members and promptly shrink-wrapped to a rolling office chair. Once helpless, family and long-time staff members assisted Bulmer in sampling several cream pies.
Guests were treated to a wonderful barbecue lunch that included burgers, sausages and salad.
Currey Bulmer, Charlie Bulmer's father, established the company in Toronto in 1932. Initially C.C Marine was an outboard rental business, but eventually evolved into a marine parts and supply distribution company. Today, it's one of Canada's largest distributors of boating parts and accessories.
