Cabela's Considers Selling Boats and Engines in Canada

Outdoor equipment retailer, Cabela's Canada in Winnipeg, MB, has confirmed that it's considering becoming a boat and engine dealer in Canada.

“At some point in the future we intend on exploring the opportunity to be a full-line marine dealer selling boats and motors for all water recreation needs,” reveals Carl McKay, President of Cabela's Canada.

From its Winnipeg store, Cabela's currently sells a variety of boating accessories, including canoes and kayaks, towables, electronics, clothing, PFDs and lifejackets. However, several of Cabela's locations in the US are dealers of Lowe, Alumacraft, Ranger, Scout, Cimarron and FinCraft boats as well as outboard motors.

Last week Boating Business reported on Cabela's plans to establish several new brick-and-mortar locations across Canada (Cabela's Expanding Across Canada ).

The company will be opening at least one new store somewhere in Western Canada before the end of the year. According to McKay, Cabela's sees an opportunity to grow its business. “We are very excited about the potential in Canada for bringing the Cabela's experience to our existing loyal customers, and to new customers whom we believe will welcome our offering with the same excitement,” says McKay.
