Changes Announced For Fort Lauderdale Show

The owners and management of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) have announced a number of enhancements to the show beginning with the 2012 event. The 53rd annual FLIBS runs from October 25 to 29 inclusive, and will once again be headquartered at the Bahia Mar Beach Hotel and Yachting Center, with additional exhibits at the Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Sails Marina, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.

Building on ideas introduced at the 2011 FLIBS, this year's show will see a greater emphasis on themed areas within the show site. Introduced at the 2011 show, TrawlerPort will return to B Dock at the Bahia Mar, offering a wide range of boats designed for long-range cruising. The adjacent Trawler market will offer relevant accessories, while informative seminars will be presented on Trawler Island.

The new Sportfish Village, located along C/D Dock at Bahia Mar, will focus on offshore fishing boats and accessories. Custom builders will represent their one-of-a-kind fishing machine designs from a new display area dedicated to their custom trade.

The new Performance Village, located at the Bahia Mar's H/I Docks, will feature performance boats and accessories, including new boats from Cigarette and others.

The largest boats at FLIBS will be represented at the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss) Pavilion, located on the Face Dock, while the adjacent Yacht Builders Tent will present displays from builders worldwide, including Canada, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Cayman Islands, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

"Our objective is to ensure that FLIBS continually improves and remains the largest, most exciting and successful boat show in the world,' said Efrem ‘Skip' Zimbalist III, Show Management Chairman and CEO.
