Chris Goulder, former president of Volvo Penta Canada, has joined Navis Marine Insurance in West Vancouver, BC, as an Account Executive.
Goulder will be responsible for providing property and liability insurance to marine-related businesses in British Columbia. He says his clients could include marinas, commercial shipyards, boat dealers and marine repairers.
He says he has already achieved his level one brokers license and he expects to be fully licensed by the year's end. "This was a great opportunity and it's been fun to enter a different aspect of the industry,' says Goulder.
Goulder, a marine industry veteran, has over 30 years of experience with Volvo Penta, spending that last 12 years of his tenure as President of Volvo Penta Canada. During his career at Volvo Penta, Goulder focused on building professional relationships with boat builders, dealers, brokers and marine engine repairers across Canada.
Additionally, Goulder previously served on the British Columbia Marine Trades Association's (BCMTA) board for 26 years, spending two terms as President. During his time on the BCMTA board, the association purchased the Vancouver International Boat Show. Goulder also previously served a Director of the National Marine Manufacturers Association of Canada for 16 years, serving as Chairman for two terms. He was the recipient of the BCMTA Industry Leadership Award in 2008 and he was inducted into the NMMA Canada Hall of Fame in 2013.
Goulder and his wife Susan are keen boaters and they have spent many summers with their two daughters enjoying the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound.
