Under new ownership, sailboat manufacturer C&L Boatworks (formerly CL Sailboats) will be holding an open house at its facility in Fort Erie, Ontario this Saturday, October 23. The company will launch its first 2011 hull built under its new management, a CL 14.
“It's a meet and greet the C&L team as well as silent auction,” describes Chris Larocque, Sales Manager at C&L Boatworks. “It's also a chance to see our operation and how the boats are built. There will be door prizes, including some stuff for power boaters. We've sent out a mass email to our loyal customers and have more than 80 RSVPs so far.”
Larocque says that the CL14 model at the open house will be presented to C&L's newest signed dealer, Frolique Nautique in Gatineau, Quebec. However, he says C&L also appreciates its long-time dealer located in Calgary, Alberta, Sailwest Sailboats.
One-time Operations Manager, now President, David Ventresca, purchased the assets and rights to C&L Boatworks this past September. Presently, the company is restructuring to employ better processes across the board, including quality, efficiency and customer service. “We're streamlining all of our operations and making them better,” explains Larocque. “We're going to revitalize the brand by holding and sponsoring fun family and class events. We'll be looking to expand our dealer base too. Presently, we have the ability to produce up to 400 boats. Back in the eighties, when the Sailboat market was booming the company was building 500 to 600 boats a year.”
Originally founded in 1968, the Canadian boat builder says that 70 percent of the material used in its vessel construction and rigging originates in Ontario. Currently, C&L Boatworks builds six models including the CL11, CL14, CL16, CL Echo12, Code 40, the Stealth and is planning to restart the production of its Sandpiper S565 in 2012.
The open house will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will include prize draws for C&L accessories and sailing gear. Light refreshments will be served. To RSVP contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.vaxxine.com/clsailboats/ for more information.
