Doral Boats Sold

Montreal-area businessman Denis Poliseno has purchased Doral Boats from former owner Erwin Zecha. The sale, concluded June 18, includes all assets related to the company, including the manufacturing plant in Grand-Mere, QC, and all molds and tooling for the company's sport boats formerly produced in Midland, ON. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The new company, Doral Marine International, has approximately 60 staff  building boats in Grand Mere, with plans to grow as production ramps up over the summer.

New owner Denis Poliseno is no stranger to the Canadian boating business. Poliseno Marine, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010, is Canada's largest Doral dealership as well as an authorized dealer for Mariah, Sea Fox, Legend, Mercury and Volvo Penta. The company, with about 50 employees, also operates a yacht club on the Ottawa River at Point aux Anglais, near Oka, QC.

The complete story, including forward-looking comments from Poliseno and new general manager Pierre Major, appears in the July 2010 issue of Boating Business, in the mail today. Subscriptions are free to marine trade – if you don't already receive your own copy, you can subscribe by clicking here.
