Canadian Boat Shows (CBS) has released early attendance numbers for the Vancouver International Boat Show (VIBS). CBS is responsible managing the show, which is taking place at BC Place and Granville Island until January 26.
On opening day, Wednesday (January 22), the attendance was reported as 2,771. Thursday's attendance was reported as 3,903.
Organizers say that last year's VIBS show days were Thursday through Monday because of the Family Day weekend, and the additional Pro-D Day added for the school districts. For 2014, the show returned to the Wednesday through Sunday and moved up three weeks earlier in the year. As a result, CBS says year-over-year comparisons are not applicable for the 2014 show.
According to CBS, the show utilizes a system of counting each attendee once, to ensure that every person/ticket is counted one time only – unlike a turnstile system that potentially counts consumers and exhibitors each time they enter the show in a day. CBS says it determines the final attendance number by counting each paid admission ticket, exhibitor guest ticket, complimentary ticket, e-ticket, exhibitor badge, marine trade badge and child.
CBS plans to announce the show's total attendance in the post-show newsletter.
