Fineline Industries, the manufacturer of Centurion Boats, recently announced its acquisition of Gekko Sports, a manufacturer of high-performing towboats.
According to Fineline, boat production of Gekko Sports models will commence at Fineline's manufacturing facilities in Merced, CA, and Woodland, NC, to meet the series of upcoming boat shows. Mark Overbye, founder of Gekko Sports, will join Fineline's management team as chief marketing officer, overseeing branding efforts and fostering growth for all brands under the Fineline umbrella.
“This is a great day for Gekko and everyone in the Fineline family,” said Overbye. “It's a natural fit in today's environment”.
As part of the acquisition, Fineline Industries plans to intensify dealer relations and refine consumer reach.
Gekko's current line includes a series of seven models and is largely recognized on the wakeboarding circuit, having pulled a recent world championship event. The company's models have also been approved by the American Water Ski Association (AWSA) and its division, the American Barefoot Club (ABC), as a record capable towboat approved for all tournament disciplines.
