Canadian Starcraft, Smoker Craft and Sylvan dealers gathered in New Paris, Indiana in early August to learn about the company's future direction and take advantage of aggressive price incentives on 2011 product offered at the company's annual dealer meeting.
Once again hosted at the New Paris plant, the event consisted of a full day of business meetings followed by a morning of on-water new product testing on nearby Lake Syracuse. Kicking off the 2011 business meeting with a theme of Changing Together, Growing Together, President and CEO Doug Smoker reviewed the company's accomplishments over the previous 12 months, highlighted by signing no less than 40 new dealers across North America. “That has allowed us to increase our sales by 40 percent through the first six months of this year,” said Smoker. “We believe we've accomplished that because of the personnel we have, the programs we have, and the financial strength we've maintained. Being an independent, family business allows us to move more nimbly than corporate competitors, and gives us an advantage other companies just don't have. Those little things that other companies can't deliver represent legitimate assets to us.”
That agility should continue to serve the company well, says Smoker, who is targeting a 20 percent sales increase for 2011. “That's a big number, but we believe we can do that without changing our mission.”
