Furuno Receives Five Awards at NMEA Convention


Marine electronics manufacturer, Furuno, was honoured with five awards at the 2010 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Convention in Seattle, WA last week.

This brings Furuno's NMEA Award total to 181 awards since NMEA started presenting awards in 1971.

A total of ten NMEA Awards were presented, including the Manufacturer of the Year – Support award, which Furuno received for the fifth straight year. Furuno has been the sole recipient of this award since its introduction five years ago.

“This is a total team effort between our outstanding in-house customer support staff and our NMEA technical dealers,” says Jim Atteridge, President of Furuno USA.

Furuno's NavNet 3D won NMEA awards in Best Radar and Best Navigation categories. This is the second straight year Furuno took home the NMEA award in the Best Navigation Category for its NavNet 3D MFD12. Furuno added the capability to display C-MAP charts, allowing users the choice of NOAA Raster and Vector charts, C-MAP Vector Charts and Navionics Vector Charts.

Furuno's new FCV295 received the award for Best Fish Finder providing the manufacturer recognition in this category for the 39th consecutive year.

The Marine Specialty Product Category assigned two awards, one for the winner and one for the runner-up. Furuno's SC30 Satellite Compass was recognized with a second place award.
