Growing industry participation has prompted the 2010 Marine Dealer Conference & Expo (MDCE) to move to a venue with double the space compared to its 2009 location. The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, FL will host the ballooning event from November 15 to 17.
“The MDCE has seen monumental growth over the last couple years for one main reason: This event delivers dealers what they need to not just survive but to thrive in the current economy,” said Matt Gruhn, associate publisher of Boating Industry magazine, who co-produces the MDCE with the Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA). After experiencing outstanding growth in 2009 (triple the attendance compared to 2008), this year's MDCE is expected to be even larger. Last year the trade show was held at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, also in Orlando, FL, and had an exhibit hall of 58,000 square feet with approximately 40 boats on display and 75 exhibitors. Exhibit space nearly doubles this year, as the OCCC offers 106,272 square feet of exhibit space.
“This year, we expect to build on the success of the 2009 event, which saw a 200-percent increase in the number of attendees, by creating an educational line-up of timely and actionable solutions and strategies that dealers can implement immediately,” added Gruhn.
As was the case in 2009, many Canadian dealers are expected to attend the conference and show, which show organizers say will feature an educational lineup of at least 15 speakers, a tradeshow and an awards presentation recognizing the top 100 boat dealers in North America. Each year the MDCE features the awards based on an annual ranking of marine dealerships that are determined to be unsurpassed in overall business operations, customer service and overall professionalism. Last year, 12 of those dealerships were Canadian.
