Harbercraft, Vernon, BC, will serve as the major sponsor of the Running the River with Heart poker run hosted by Woodlands RV Park and River Marina in Assiniboine, AB, on June 5.
Margaret Bell, Event Coordinator, is expecting 100 boats at the event. “All funds raised go to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,” says Bell. “This is a province-wide event and it's bringing people from all over. We're trying to make this the riverboat poker run rally event of the season. Harbercraft will be displaying boats at the event too, so it's sort of a mini boat show as well.”
“Our primary goal is to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation,” says Mark Delaney, Marketing Director for WestWinn Group, manufacturer of Harbercraft. “Some of our dealers will be bringing boats for demo purposes. Mercury is helping out as well. They've provided $1,500 product credit to support this event.”
Harbercraft will be holding a silent poker hand contest at the event, which could potentially reward a participant a brand new Harbercraft Extreme Sport V8, worth $60,000, if their hand matches the one drawn by the manufacturer. The silent poker hand contest is courtesy of five Harbercraft dealers in Alberta including Alberta Marine in Nanton; Gibbons Motor Toys in Gibbons; Stojan's Power Sports and Marine in Grande Prairie; Uncle Ben's RV and Auto in Red Deer; and Whitecourt Yamaha in Whitecourt.
Last year the event raised more than $15,000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. There is a $100 entrance fee for poker run participants and the Heart and Stroke Foundation will issue $75 charitable tax receipts.
