In a letter to dealers and industry colleagues dated January 3, 2012, (company, title) Irwin Jacobs describes feeling “the best I have in several years” that renewed interest in boating is producing sustained, positive sales trends.
“Although I believe we must continue to be patient and optimistic, I can honestly say I feel the best I have in several years that we’re finally beginning to see several positive sales trends and interest once again from the recreational boat buying consumer not only in the U.S. but in several other international boating markets where we do business around the world,” wrote Jacobs.
The iconic industry leader cites aggressive new product launches as being key to growing sales for the company’s Larson, Marquis and Carver brands. ”Our Larson Boat Company alone retooled 22 new models including three completely new Cabrio Cruisers in just the past 18 months,” wrote Jacobs. “I’ve been in the recreational boating industry for over 35 years and I have never heard of any boat company attempting such an undertaking.”
Jacobs added that a new 63-foot Marquis Sport Bridge will be unveiled at the Miami Boat Show in February.
