Manitou Pontoon Boats, Lansing, Michigan has announced that it is establishing a new headquarters in north Lansing, Michigan. The move is designed to better serve the pontoon boat builder's manufacturing capacity and position the company for sustainable, long-term growth.
"Our existing is in the south-west corner of Lansing,' says Greg VanWagenen, Manitou's Director of Marketing and Communications. "Now we'll be more in the north-west corner. It's not a huge move distance wise, maybe 8 or 9 miles. This will greatly increase our manufacturing capacity and allow us to bring in specialized machines to optimize the manufacturing process.'
The company will benefit from a huge increase in space, jumping from 50,000 to 150,000 square feet.
Van Wagenen says Manitou has experienced a steady increase in pontoon sales each year over the past several years. "We had a few weeks that were soft this year, which we attribute to the weather, but overall we've seen business increase every year since the big downturn in 2008.'
Over the next four months, Manitou's headquarters for manufacturing, sales and marketing, and corporate operations will relocate to the ‘state-of-the-art' facility in north Lansing. The facility is said to allow Manitou to embark on a more aggressive growth plan.
Manitou says it is strategically expanding into the south central and western states of the US.
Altogether, the move will affect approximately 90 employees. "So far, none of our employees have had an issue with the move,' adds Van Wagenen. "Everyone should be moving over with us.'
