Mass Synchronized Lifejacket Inflations to Raise Safety Awareness

The Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC), Toronto, ON, and National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), Bristow, VA, will attempt to establish a world record for the number of simultaneous lifejacket Inflations on May 20 at 11 a.m. (EST). The purpose of the attempt is to raise awareness for the launch of Safe Boating Week May 22 to 28.

The CSBC in partnership with the in the NSBC will be working with their respective members and affiliated organizations to execute this world record attempt.

“This world record event will not only help to educate boaters about inflatable lifejackets, but will help to mirror the overall goals and vision of the North American Safe Boating Campaign,” said Bob Minielly, Chair of the CSBC.

The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness of the importance of life jacket wear and general boating safety practices.  Local inflations will be led by marine enforcement officers and boating safety educators who will engage politicians and invite the media and the public to participate. Many of these events are expected to take place at government buildings such as the steps of a provincial legislature or city hall, busy street corners, shopping malls and other highly visible venues. Each registered venue will provide a tally of the number of individuals who participated along with their picture proof.
