MasterCraft Boat Company in Venore, TN, has announced it is partnering with Ilmor Engineering, Plymouth, MI, for its power train needs beginning with the 2012 model year.
While the term of the agreement was not disclosed, Jessica Gamarra, Director of Sales and Marketing for Ilmor says it's a “multi-year agreement that could be renewed indefinitely as long as the relationship remains solid. We are ready to meet whatever the production needs for MasterCraft are.”
The exclusive partnership will mean that only MasterCraft boats will be equipped with Ilmor engines in the luxury water sports category.
In June 2010, Ilmor opened a 50,000 square-foot marine engine assembly and test facility in Mooresville, NC, committed to developing and building a new series of inboard GM-based V8 engines for its first manufacturing partner, MasterCraft Boat Company.
“Our engineering staff has worked non-stop to design the new range of Ilmor MV8 engines, which are built to the same engineering standards as our high-performance racing and powerboat engines,” says Paul Ray, President of Ilmor Engineering.
Ilmor is planning to bring new power options to the recreational boating market in the near future. “We are looking at growing our engine line,” reveals Gamarra. “We're looking at different sizes and drive technologies. Right now we're doing solely inboard but we are looking at other opportunities. We're also looking at different power variations. Right now we're doing naturally aspirated gasoline.”
Ilmor high-performance marine engines are also currently offered by powerboat brands including Donzi, Eliminator, Outerlimits, DCB, Hustler, Stancraft and Sunsation.
