Mercury Marine's Arthur McNeil Dies While Scuba Diving

Arthur Dennis McNeil, 55, a 31-year veteran of the recreational marine industry, passed away on September 16 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia while scuba diving. McNeil was Mercury Marine's Business Development Manager, responsible for the company's sales and service in the Atlantic provinces.

McNeil, born in Baddeck, Nova Scotia on November 28, 1956, had an active interest in the welfare of the industry in which he worked. He served as a board member of the Atlantic Marine Trades Association (AMTA) and the Nova Scotia Yachting Association. McNeil was also an avid volunteer for numerous community events including the Baddeck Regatta, the Polar Bear Swim, the Slow Poker Run, the Cabot Trail Relay Race and several fundraisers. He was a member of the Bras d'Or Yacht Club, St. Mark's Masonic Lodge, Baddeck Royal Canadian Legion and the Barnacles Diving Team. His family, friends and colleagues will sorely miss him.

Funeral services for McNeil will begin with visitation on September 21 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the MacAskill's Funeral Home in Baddeck, Nova Scotia ((902) 295-1307). The funeral will be held on September 22 at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood United Church ((902) 295-2706), followed by a 1 p.m. reception at Bras d'Or Yacht Club.
