GoFree, Navico's brand that provides digital content and services, has announced the launch of GoFreeShop.com.
"These recent developments in our digital products will change the way boaters use their electronics,' said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. "The transition from Insight Store to the GoFree Shop is the just the first stage in our introduction of new functionality that no other marine electronics manufacturer offers. Not only does GoFree Shop offer the most expansive options for connectivity, but allows for infinite growth potential for the future of these devices.'
GoFree enables boaters to quickly purchase, download and use charts wherever they have access to an Internet connection – right through their compatible Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G multifunction displays (all Navico brands). The cloud-enabled service also allows boaters to receive automatic software-update notifications directly from the home page of those MFDs as well as link tablets and mobile devices.
GoFreeShop.com expands this connected experience for Lowrance, Simrad and B&G customers. The redesigned GoFree Shop provides boaters the option of downloading purchases immediately from a personal computer or directly from a compatible MFD. GoFree Shop's new search functionality filters results based on specific criteria – including selected MFD, preferred chart provider or regional geographic location.
Globally, boaters can download selections from C-MAP by Jeppesen's full array of charts. In the US, consumers can download the latest v15 versions of Lake Insight and Nautic Insight cartography.
GoFree Shop also provides users full access to the Insight Genesis Social Map features, allowing the upload of recorded sonar logs to make more accurate charts of any body of water. GoFree accounts also allow users to organize boating trips with Insight Planner as well as build custom maps with Insight Map Creator and download weather information. All GoFree Shop purchases are automatically synchronized with GoFree Shop-enabled MFD navigation systems with a wireless signal – either through the built-in capability of the MFD or with a networked WIFI-1 module. Compatible multi-function displays include: Lowrance HDS Gen3 and Gen2, Simrad NSS evo2 and NSO evo2, and B&G Zeus2.
