NavNet 3D will be expanding its chart options this spring with the addition of C-Map by Jeppesen MapMedia charts.
“Our official launch date will hopefully be in March or April,” says Jeff Kauzlaric, Furuno's Advertising and Communications Manager. “There's a conversion process from C-Map to MapMedia. So MapMedia receives the information from C-Map, takes all the data and converts it into the NavNet 3D format.”
NavNet 3D chart plotters will be able to offer its customers the options of choosing between pre-loaded National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) raster and vector charts or optional C-Map by Jeppesen and Datacore by Navionics vector cartography. “C-Map coverage of the Great Lakes and rivers in Canada is a significant addition,” says Kauzlaric. “Now NavNew 3D has even more chart options with three different sources.”
The new vector charts will be available worldwide, with the East Coast and Bahamas being released first, and the rest of North America to follow shortly thereafter. The collection of C-Map by Jeppesen MapMedia charts for North America will include Coastal US, Gulf of Mexico, Great Lakes and Rivers Canada and Baja Mexico. A software update will be necessary to use the new C-Map charts, which will be available for download at Furuno's website (www.furuno.com).
