NMEA Presents 10 Awards at Convention & Expo


The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) presented 10 awards at its 2009 convention and expo in Sanibel Harbor Resort in Fort Myers, FL last week.

Furuno USA came away with five of those awards including Manufacturer of the Year and product awards for Fish Finding, for its FCV585 Digital Fish Finder; Radar, for its NavNet 3D DRS Ultra Hi-Def Radar Series; Navigation, for its NavNet 3D MFDI2 Multi-Function Display; and a second place award for Marine Specialty, for its SC30 Satellite Compass.

Simrad was honoured with a pair of awards including the new NMEA Technology Award for its BR24 Broadband Radar. Simrad also received an award in the Autopilot category for its AP24 and AP28 autopilots.

ICOM was recognized with an award in the Communication category for its M604 VHF radio.

KVH Industries received an award for its Trac Vision M1 in the Entertainment category.

FLIR Systems took home the first place Marine Specialty award for its Navigator II thermal imager.

Receiving honourable mentions for the new NMEA Technology Award were Maretron for its N2K Builder software and Navionics for its Mobile iPhone apps.
