NMMA Canada Encourages Increase in Hours for Trent-Severn Waterway in letter to Parks Canada

In a mid-April letter to the Minister of the Environment, Leona Aglukkaq (responsible for Parks Canada), NMMA Canada expressed its support to reinstate the original hours of operation on the Trent-Severn Waterway for the upcoming boating season.
NMMA also noted to the minister its appreciation for Parks Canada's $390 million investment to make improvements to highways, bridges and dams located in national parks and along our historic canals, which are expected to facilitate better access.
"This investment will have a positive economic impact on local businesses and the recreational boating industry,' say NMMA Canada Vice President of Government Relations, Sara Anghel.
With the support of Boating Ontario, NMMA Canada will continue to encourage expansion of services for canals such as the Trent-Severn Waterway with key government officials in its advocacy efforts on Recreational Boating Day on the Hill, which will take place on May 14, 2014 in Ottawa.
