No Threat of Strike During Vancouver International Boat Show

There will be no labour disruption during the upcoming Vancouver International Boat Show according to the BC Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU) Local 1703.  The boat show is scheduled to run from February 7 to 11 inclusive at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, with an in-water venue at Granville Island.

"The BCGEU is satisfied that we are making headway at the bargaining table, and as sign of goodwill, the BCGEU has agreed that there will be no job action, and it will be business as usual at the stadium,' stated the union.

After five days of mediation between the BCGEU and BC Place management, the union reports reaching agreements on all non-monetary changes to the collective agreement. Talks between the groups are set to resume on February 13 with the aid of a mediator, two days after the Vancouver International Boat Show's final day.
