The board of directors of the Ontario Marine Operators Association (OMOA) and the Insurance Committee recently announced a new insurance program for OMOA members, which became effective November 1.
The brokers for the new program, HKMB Hub International, will be led by vice-chairman John Chippindale and vice-president Don McDonald. The underwriter for the new program is Travelers Insurance of Canada (St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co.), with Canadian headquarters in Toronto.
After an extensive review of the OMOA insurance program, the Insurance Committee says the new program will provide its members with improved service, improved and more extensive coverage with the option of higher insurance limits and increased flexibility. The Insurance Committee also says the new program will maintain competitive rates.
The program will continue to offer OMOA members a significant member discount as well as the discount available under the association's Clean Marine Program.
According to the OMOA, the new insurance program ensures their members will have adequate insurance coverage as well as a strong voice representing their insurance interests.
“We think having the underwriter resident in Ontario is a benefit and we believe Hub will have more personnel to service the account,” said Al Donaldson, executive director of the OMOA.
