Pride Marine Group is opening its sixth location in Ontario, south of Barrie on Highway 400. The nearly 10,000 square-foot dealership will carry Chaparral’s entire lineup and select Robalo models.
“We’ll have Chaparral and Robalo models ranging from 18 to 42 feet on display,” says Jeff Barnes, Pride Marine Group’s Director of Marketing. “We’ll also be doing mobile service out of that location to support everything that we sell.”
With Pride Marine Group recently strengthening its relationship with Chaparral and the closing of Sandy Cove Marine a former dealer of the brand in Innisfil, ON, Barnes believes opening a dealership in the area made sense. “There was a bit of a vacuum in the area,” explains Barnes. “We acquired additional territory and customer service, so it made sense to have a facility central in that territory. With Chaparral product development within the last 24 months and looking ahead at the next 24 months they’re doing a lot of development in the 25- to 30-foot category, which is perfect for being centered on the triangle of Toronto, Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe. We needed a showroom purpose built for large boats in the Barrie area – this was ideal.”
The new location has a 6,200 square-foot glass showroom, which can contain vessels up to 50 feet long. Next to the glass showroom is another 3,000 square-foot sport boat showroom. The dealership’s property includes four acres of secure display and storage space and a show pond. Pride Marine Group plans to display Chaparral’s Signature cruising models and expects Chaparral’s SSi, Sunesta and SSx sport boats to resonate with Simcoe-area boaters.
Pride Marine Group plans to open the location on September 30. The company will be holding a hiring fair in the Barrie/Innisfil community to help staff the new dealership.
