Princecraft in Princeville, QC and Torqeedo based in Starnberg, Germany have collaborated to offer three electric boats for 2011.
Two of Princecraft's new electric boats are pontoons, the 15-foot Brio 15e and 17-foot Brio 17e, and are specifically designed around Torqeedo's electric outboards. Princecraft's third electric model is one of its fishing boats, the 14-foot Yukon DLe, which was updated to better accommodate an electric motor.
Torqeedo currently offers its Cruise 2.0 and 4.0R with these models. However, additional Torqeedo motors may become available in the future.
“There are lots of gas-powered engine restrictions on lakes in Canada,” said Princecraft President Donald Dubois. “These boats help get around those restrictions without sacrificing an excellent boating experience. Normally, boat builders create the boat first and then determine the method of propulsion, but we designed these craft around the electric motor.”
