The Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association (NSBA) is presenting an ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Certification) marine electrical certification course in Halifax, NS, from March 9 to 12.
The four-day course, open to NSBA or Atlantic Marine Trades Association (AMTA) members, is recommended for experienced technicians with at least three to five years of experience working with marine electrical systems and who are familiar with ABYC electrical standards. Topics covered will include electrical theory, lead-acid batteries, using a multi-meter, battery testing, generator sets, inverters, grounding and bonding systems, and troubleshooting.
Before the course begins, each registered student will be shipped a copy of the study guide, which they will be required to become familiar with prior to class. It's also recommended that they refresh their knowledge of ABYC electrical standards. The class will conclude with a 200-question certification exam.
To attend, the course fee of US $685 per student must be paid in advance by February 26. Download a copy of the registration form here and fax to the NSBA at (902) 423-2379. Those registering are asked to provide a phone number that they can be reached at.
