Sales Steady at Victoria Harbour Floating Boat Show

Perfect spring weather, a strong field of exhibitors, and consumers who came prepared to buy made for a successful Victoria Harbour Floating Boat Show, held in the city's beautiful Inner Harbour from April 16 to 19 inclusive. The show, celebrating its 12th year, is presented by the BC Yacht Brokers Association (BCYBA).

A record 66 exhibitors on land and in the water displayed 135 new and brokerage boats, as well as a vast range of electronics, accessories, clothing, insurance services, financial products and more. “The gate attendance was down a bit from last year, but sales were pretty good,” said show manager Kathy Harvey. “We had some much larger boats on display this year, including several over 75 feet in length and 10 from the United States. That was fun, especially for consumers who came to see something a little out of the ordinary.”

Freedom Marine and BCYBA president, Don Young, also noted lower overall attendance this year, but was pleased with the quality of buyers in attendance. “We're pretty happy,” he said. “We sold a new boat and spoke with other legitimate buyers who had obviously done their homework, and were serious about purchasing a boat. As a dealer, that's exactly what you want to see, to know that you're talking with qualified customers who are sincerely interested in what you have to offer.”
