The National Search and Rescue Secretariat (NSS) announced that the 2009 SARSCENE Conference and Expo has been postponed until the fall of 2010 in Regina, SK. According to the NSS, the postponement is to review and improve the event's format and content.
According to the NSS, feedback from the SAR community has indicated that it's time to revamp the conference. In response, the NSS plans to create a more balanced event to ensure participants receive increased value. The new objectives that are being considered for the conference include creating educational and informative streams, updating the awards program, seeking more involvement from the SAR industry (and the NSS's partners), and focusing on multi-year strategic and operational planning.
Next year, the event will once again be co-hosted by the Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) and the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, Government of Saskatchewan.
