Sea Ray Launches Redesigned 450 Sedan Bridge

Sea Ray Boats, Knoxville, TN, has announced the launch of its fully updated 450 Sedan Bridge sport yacht. It will be officially unveiled at the Miami International Boat Show in Florida, which runs from February 17 to 21.

The 45-foot, six-inch long 450 Sedan Bridge has been completely updated for the 2012 model year, featuring a new interior and exterior as well as twin 480-hp Cummins MerCruiser diesel engines with Zeus pod drives.

“It's a terrific model for the Canadian market because it provides more climate control living quarters, which helps you extend your boating season,” describes Rob Noyes, Sea Ray's Vice President of Marketing. “We're really excited about this model because it fits right down the middle of our Sedan Bridge lineup.”

Noyes says Sea Ray has high expectations for how the 450 Sedan Bridge will be received in markets around the world. “We sell a lot of them in colder climates, but they're also popular in southern climates. People like to have the enclosed living space to stay out of the heat as much as the cold. From a market standpoint it's really ubiquitous. It's suited for Florida, New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the Great Lakes and Lake of the Ozarks. It's a size that we can still put on trucks without having to be broken down like bigger models – so we can move it into in-land markets. We also expect it to be very successful in international markets such as South America, Europe, Russia and Australia.”

Noyes believes one of the most significant improvement to 450 Sedan Bridge is the addition of the Zeus pod drives. “Now these Zeus pods allow you to do things with a boat that were never possible before from a performance standpoint. With a Sedan Bridge there's a lot more affect from the wind. Boaters can get nervous with a bigger boat, but the Zeus pods and joystick provide complete control and confidence regardless of wind or current. The proliferation of the Zeus pod into Sedan Bridge boats is something that's taken a little longer to work out the engineering for because the center of gravity is so different on a Sedan Bridge than on a Sundancer or Express Cruiser.”
