Sea Ray Plans To Expand L-Class Yacht Production

Sea Ray, headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, is planning to increase its production capacity as a result of what it says is solid retail demand for its new Sea Ray L-Class yachts. The L-Class is the boat builder's largest and most expensive yacht series.

"We're very pleased with the great success of the new L-Class and look forward to adding jobs back to the Sykes Creek community,” said Sea Ray President Tim Schiek.

The L-Series currently consists of two models: the 58-foot, 10-inch long L590 and the 65-foot, one-inch long L650. Each model is available in a fly bridge configuration.

Sea Ray will increase production capacity by reactivating its Sykes Creek manufacturing facility in Merritt Island, Florida. The expanded production will commence in the summer of 2015. The boat builder will begin hiring immediately, and expects to create up to 100 new jobs over the next 12 months.

Founded in 1959, Sea Ray is a Brunswick Corporation Boat Group brand. The boat builder offers more than 40 models ranging from 19 to 65 feet.
