Selden Mast was named the recipient of the 20th annual DAME Award as the 2010 METS Show opened its doors in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
Selden's new Reversible Winch product was chosen by the DAME (Design Award, METS) jury as the new product most likely to have the largest impact in recreational boating. The ability for a sailboat operator to reverse the winch on order to ease sails was said to provide greater safety.
“On this 20th anniversary, I was delighted to see the new companies at MEYS that also had put products up for these awards,” said DAME jury chairman, Bill Dixon. “”One can see the tremendous effort that the nominees have put into identifying new product opportunities, and then ensuring these designs meet the ever-more demanding customer expectations.”
This year marks the new product award's 20th anniversary, with a total of 132 new products nominated.
METS is the world's largest marine equipment trade show, organized by the Amsterdam RAI in association with the International Council of Marine Industry Associations. The show continues through Thursday.
