Brunswick Corp. and the Brunswick Foundation recently awarded 26 students in Canada and the United Sates a total of $52,000 in college scholarships to assist with their tuition fees for the upcoming school year. Three students from Canada were among the 26 recipients including Carla and Zachary Robbins of Rayburn's Marine World in Kelowna, BC, as well as Sarah Wert of Hurst Marina in Manotick, ON.
The program, which was introduced to dealers in the United States in 2007 and offered to Canadian dealers just last year, is eligible for students whose parent(s) are employees of dealerships that sell Brunswick brands and are Gold or Platinum dealers in the company's Dealer Advantage program.
The scholarship program recognizes academic excellence, leadership capabilities and civic involvement during the past school year. Recipients are chosen by an independent committee of academic professionals at three leading Midwestern universities.
“Supporting our dealers has always been a fundamental principle at Brunswick,” said B. Russell Lockridge, vice president and chief human resources officer for Brunswick Corporation. “Brunswick Dealer Advantage helps our dealers grow their businesses with a collection of dealer services that is unmatched. We want to help our dealers to succeed, because their success is our success.”
Three other recipients from Canada have received scholarships from the Brunswick Foundation including students of family members at Bay Port Yachting Centre in Midland, ON, Équipements Poirier in Gatineau, QC, and Cariboo Supply and Marine Ltd. in 100 Mile House, BC.
